Tools
As our main research strategy, we use interdisciplinary social science methodologies, integrating approaches from Science and Technology Studies (STS), ethnography, action-research, and participatory science.
Specifically, we employ three families of research tools:
Overviews
We collect and analyze empirical information on the various types of citizen technoscience projects that have taken place in Chile in recent decades, combining document analysis with statistical analyses and data visualization techniques.
Case studies
We analyze prominent examples of each type of citizen technoscience, combining in-depth interviews with ethnographic research.
Experimental interventions
Based on the results of the previous phases, we co-design and implement innovative projects aimed at generating new infrastructures and relationships among the organizations involved in different forms of citizen technoscience.
