Citizen Monitoring Network
The citizen environmental monitoring network is an open platform for coordination and collaboration among groups that promote monitoring initiatives in their territories. Its overall objective is to build a learning and support community for those who are developing or planning to carry out citizen environmental monitoring.
The network began to take shape in late 2024 at a meeting convened by CITEC that brought together a dozen organizations linked to citizen monitoring. Today, more than 30 groups participate in this network, which is coordinated by a CITEC team.
In May 2025, the network’s participants met virtually to define actions and priorities such as registering initiatives, creating spaces for co-learning, and conducting training sessions on topics such as funding opportunities, communication strategies, and public advocacy, among others. The results of this first planning workshop are detailed in the summary document.
